THE BIG GAME

It really doesn’t matter if you’re a football fan or not, chances are you are either invited to, or will be hosting, a get-together for the Big Game later this month. There may be Buffalo wings, nachos, potato chips, high-fiving and of course a little groaning when points are scored or field goals are missed, but that doesn’t mean that the creative beader has to feel left out as they patiently watch the game and wait for the next break to watch what they really want to see: the commercials.

No, it’s time to give this year’s football event a little sparkle and dazzle. Whether one of the two teams in the match is ‘your team,’ or you’re choosing to display your allegiance to a franchise that didn’t get this far, there’s no reason not to become the center of attention (at least before kickoff) by wearing an original piece that shows your interest (feigned or real) in the game.

You’ll get the attention of the men in attendance as well as the ladies by wearing that scarlet and gold, black and purple, or any other team colors that you choose to compliment the team jersey or T-shirt that you might be wearing.

There’s so much more you can do than just the team colors, though, as a search through BrightlingsBeads.com will undoubtedly get your imagination running with various charms and pendants that represent a team mascot or city. And who says we have to stop at jewelry? Wine identifiers with the same colors and/or charms or pendants will make a great conversation piece as well as something for the other partygoers to take home to remember the event. Embellish, party supplies with Swarovski rhinestones in your teams colors.

But what if you’re just not sure whom you’re rooting for in the game? No problem, that’s why we have large-hole beads! Start out with one team’s color, and if you find yourself liking the other team more, just reach in your purse and in minutes you can change the jewelry you’re wearing into a completely different design.

So, no matter what the final score may be, or the funniest commercial is selling, use that creativity that makes you an original beader to make you the hit at this year’s Big Game!

Everything Old is New Again!

Although beaders come in all shapes and sizes, can be any age or from any part of the world, there is one thing that we seem to have in common: those ‘unused’ beads.

Whether they’re kept in a coffee can or an old margarine container, or they’re in several large plastic storage bins in closets and under various beds in the house – either kept neatly by color and/or materials or date purchased – they are beads and findings that at one time had our imaginations fueled with the beautiful jewelry they would one day be a part of. And now they’re just sitting there, all but forgotten.

I think it’s time we changed that.

Take a few minutes out of your day and go through those old beads…you’ll be surprised at what you find, as there are definitely pieces you’ve completely forgotten about. It’ll kind of be like Christmas, or your birthday, as you will no doubt be amazed as you are reminded of just what great taste you have!

Of course, as beaders part of what gets our creative juices flowing is looking for the ‘new items,’ so, you might ask, ‘what’s the fun of using the old stuff?’ Well, who says your pieces have to be made completely out of what you already own? Pick a nice pendant or several glass beads, get an idea, and then ask yourself, ‘okay, what do I need to get what’s in my mind’s eye onto my neck, or ears, or wrist, or even ankle? Then visit BrightlingsBeads.com and fill in those missing pieces.

And there’s no need to just make this a one-time thing. If you’re anything like the beaders we’ve met at bead shows all over the country, you have plenty of those ‘unused beads’ just waiting to become a part of your newest masterpiece. After all, you can’t get compliments or make a sale on something that’s hidden away in a dark place, never getting to fulfill its destiny of helping you express your vision!
